This course focuses on helping educators understand and support cognitive development and learning through four areas: facilitating exploration and concept development, building meaningful curriculum, promoting imitation, symbolic representation and play, and supporting reasoning and problem solving skills.
MUST ATTEND ALL FOUR SESSIONS in order to receive certificate. No partial credit will be granted. Dates: 9/7; 9/14; 9/21; 9/28
Training Objectives:
1. Explore the innate drives, tendencies and cognitive capacities that allow children to build knowledge through observation and exploration.
2. Recognize behaviors that indicate a child is gathering information and building understanding of concepts of processes.
3. Identify and analyze teaching strategies and practices that support, facilitate and extend children’s exploration and concept development.
Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training.
