Kids are curious and love to learn about the world around them. Afterschool staff can play an important role in facilitating youth’s learning about science, engineering, and technology (SET). This session provides an introduction to the Afterschool SET Ready for Life Checklist and elements for high quality SET programming.

Training Objectives:

1 .Participants will nurture and inspire an appreciation and interest in providing youth science, engineering, and technology (SET) experiences in afterschool settings.

2 .Participants will gain an understanding of elements of high quality SET learning in afterschool programs.

3 .Participants will increase the level of comfort of staff to facilitate SET learning in afterschool settings.

Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training. If you have questions or concerns, or need additional information about this process, feel free to contact the Professional Development Training Coordinator at 775-856-6200.
