We will dive into the life skill on self-directed, engaged learning and how it pertains to our executive functions. We will explore what this means as adults and how we can implement strategies to increase it in the children we teach. Through working memory, paying attention, cognitive flexibility, and inhibitory control, we can achieve goals driven by our executive functions in the Early Childhood Educational Field. We will also go over, how the importance of self-directed, engaged learning as children, has a lasting affect especially when adjusting to school, to literacy, and to positive relationships.
