After-school care professionals play and important role in developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning opportunities, increasing a youth’s natural interests, promoting learner-centered science, and integrating science. This interactive session uses a carousel of group-directed mini-centers that feature ways to create STEM-rich environments into their existing program.
Training Objectives:
1.To appreciate and understand the importance of creating STEM-rich environments in afterschool settings.
2.Understanding how to incorporate the six strands from the National Research Council’s Learning Science in Informal Environments: People, Places, and Pursuits in the creation of science-rich Environment.
