This session focuses on knowledge-centered, learner-driven activities that can be easily delivered through centers in your afterschool program. Eleven elements of effective SET (science, engineering, and technology) learning centers are discussed. Tips for facilitating and managing centers are also covered.

Training Objectives:

1.To understand the importance of having readily accessible self-directed, learner-centered SET experiences.

2.To know how to integrate elements of effective SET afterschool learning centers.

3. To know how to facilitate and manage centers and to develop opportunities for youth to think, act, and nurture the scientist in each of them.
