MICROSOFT PRESENTS $486K SOFTWARE DONATION TO THE CHILDREN’S CABINET
Software to support The Children’s Cabinet and their Redfield Academy Technology upgrade
RENO, Nev. (Sept. 20, 2016) – Microsoft Reno presented The Children’s Cabinet with a $486,724 Software donation at the Art of Childhood fundraising gala held at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. Through Microsoft’s Corporate Citizenship efforts, the Cyber Grant will support The Children’s Cabinet and their Redfield Academy technology upgrade in addition to software upgrades in their offices and program locations throughout the state.
“Through our Corporate Citizenship efforts, we provide technology tools, training, and resources that can help create opportunities and transform communities,” said Owen Roberts, General Manager, Microsoft’s Americas Operations Center. “We are proud to provide this opportunity and support The Children’s Cabinet, who provide great services and programs throughout the state of Nevada.”
“The software provided by this grant will enable The Children’s Cabinet to provide uniform, secure, and dependable technology to a growing staff, working from 11 different buildings in four cities across Nevada,” said Mike Pomi, Executive Director of the Children’s Cabinet. “The comprehensive upgrades will improve communication capacity, enhance client services, and increase productivity. Overall, this project will strengthen The Children’s Cabinet’s interoffice communication and expand the delivery of services to youth and families in need.”
Directly impacted will be the technology for the Redfield Academy, a 30-student high school run by The Children’s Cabinet for students in Washoe County who are two or more semesters behind and need academic and personal guidance to catch up and earn their diplomas. Youth receive small-setting academics and personal teacher attention in addition to counseling services and other needs. The technology upgrades will support student achievement by improving access to computers and networking systems necessary to efficiently complete coursework and online testing for credits and graduation.
