Redfield Academy

The Children’s Cabinet’s Redfield Academy is dedicated to providing support for youth who may be struggling in high school and need a more individualized approach.

The Redfield Academy is available for Washoe County students at risk of dropping out of high school. These students have the opportunity to recover credits and work toward graduation. Our students can choose to return to a traditional school setting or graduate, with a traditional diploma, from Redfield Academy.

Located at The Children’s Cabinet’s Wilbur D. May Youth Center at 777 Sinclair Street in Midtown, Redfield Academy provides:

  • A small setting, with teacher attention (1:12 ratio) and few distractions
  • The opportunity for students to develop goals and move at their own pace, fast or slow
  • Access to family counseling, food and financial support, safe transportation, career mentorship, and weekly P.E. and team-building activities
  • An atmosphere of care, respect, and understanding
  • A focus on graduation and achieving other life-changing goals
  • Students have the opportunity to recover credits and work toward graduation in order to earn a diploma from the Washoe County School District or an HSE (High School Equivalency).

Continued Success

The Children’s Cabinet provides a continued path of support after school for high school students who are struggling in school, at home, in the juvenile justice system, or in other areas.

Transportation to the Wilbur D. May Youth Center (located at the same building as Redfield Academy, 777 Sinclair Street in Midtown) from school is provided. The Children’s Cabinet staff provides tutoring, career exploration, weekly activities, community events, and more. Our team is prepared to help youth achieve their goals and continue their success!
